The Office of Administrative Law approved the Occupational Safety & Health Standards Board’s proposed amendments to the current heat illness regulation. The amended regulations will go into effect on May 1, 2015, in time for this year’s growing season and warmer weather.
- This standard applies to all outdoor places of employment.
- Agriculture,
- Construction,
- Landscaping,
- Oil and gas extraction, and
- Transportation and delivery of agricultural products and of construction or other heavy materials (e.g. furniture, lumber, freight, cargo, cabinets, industrial or commercial materials).
Cal/OSHA interprets the standard’s provisions to apply at all times when employees work outdoors.
